Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's Air Force One Supplemental Braking System. The Air Force One Supplemental Braking System is a truly proportional braking system that uses the air pressure from your motor home, transfers it to the actuator and the cylinder on the brake pedal inside of your vehicle to apply the brakes that matches the proper output on your pedal. And what this means is the harder you press the brakes inside your motor home, the harder it's going to apply the brakes in your vehicle. And likewise, when you just press them softly coming to a stop, it's going to be proportional with the brake inside of your vehicle here.The actuating unit here under the hood is going to monitor that air input from your motor home and then apply the appropriate amount out to apply the pedal in your vehicle. This unit also has wiring on it that connects to a breakaway switch so unfortunate event that you do have a catastrophic disconnect, the pin will pull and it will activate the unit using the air that is stored inside the unit from your motor home to apply the brakes in your vehicle so it can come to a safe stop.The actuating cylinder here on the pedal is tethered to the firewall and whenever it receives air from the unit, it will pressurize the cylinder and will cause it to pull the pedal towards the firewall, using the anchor point here. more

So a supplemental braking system here is going to be required by law in almost every state for a towed vehicle behind the motorhome. Now, essentially what the system is going to do in its most basic form is when we apply the brakes in our motorhome, it's going to also apply the brakes in our towed vehicle, helping us slow down. That way, we're not pushing it against the motorhome and we can come to an effective stop much sooner. So each braking system, is going to be a little bit different in its design. more

Now, keep in mind that it's only going to be one component you need for a complete safe flat tow setup. For its complete setup, you're going to need a base plate, a tow bar, tow bar wiring, a braking system, and finally safety cables. And whenever you're flat towing your Jeep, it is important to have a supplemental braking system. Because let's face it, our Jeep may not weigh that much, but we're adding quite a bit to the back of our motor home and we're relying on our motor home to not only stop itself, but also slow our Jeep down.So it can have a very big effect on our braking performance and the wear and tear that's on our motor home, not to mention our Jeep. So having that supplemental braking system will allow the Jeep to slow and stop itself down while we're towing it, so that whenever we do get where we're going, we won't have to worry about any worn down brakes, possibly bald spots in our tires. more

So it's going to keep us safer by shortening our overall stopping distance, and that's because with the braking system, whenever we hit the brakes in the motor home, it's actually going to apply the brakes in the Jeep. And that's also going to create less wear and tear on the motor home.Because without the braking system, the motor home is completely responsible for not only stopping itself, but also the weight of our Jeep. And that can really help wear out the motor home's brakes prematurely. Now the reason you're going to need a stoplight switch kit is if you're using a braking system that has an indicator light. And that's because for our Jeep to get flat towed down the road, we're going to have to disconnect our battery and our factory stoplight switch needs battery power to function properly. And since the braking system indicator light needs that brake switch signal to turn on, our switch kit is going to provide us with that signal. And that's because it is a remote or secondary switch that we're going to run directly to our battery post to provide us that power that we need. more

You needed to determine where you're going to mount your operating unit. The engine compartment in the Jeeps are a little bit hard to find somewhere to mount this box, but it can be mounted inside or outside. If you mind outside the vehicle, you just want to make sure it's not going to be like soaked in water or drowned in water. I chose to mount mine underneath the seat, these seats are very easy to take out. more

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Installation - 2018 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2018 Jeep Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit. To help us with our installation, we're gonna be using the Buyers Dual Fuse Holder for ATM micro fuses.Whenever you're flat towing your Jeep, you wanna know what's going on behind you. Well, that's why our supplemental braking systems have monitor life and they let us know what's going on, but those are usually read off of the cylinder pushing on the brake pedal. It doesn't exactly tell you where the brake pedal is positioned. So if it's not installed correctly, the brace could be applied all the time causing a lot of damage down the line.But by using this Roadmaster Stop Light Switch, we're gonna be able to see where our brake pedal's actually positioned, rather than the braking system position. That way we know exactly if our brakes are being applied, if something may have fell on the brake pedal while we're towing our Jeep, or any case we know exactly what's going on.Our Stop Light Switch is gonna mount right onto our brake arm and it's gonna have a little plunger that's gonna activate or deactivate depending on how hard we push on our brake pedal. more
